Today, we’re diving into supplements—one of the most confusing topics these days because they’re everywhere.
I want you to think about this from a God-honoring, faith-led perspective.
God created the earth, the animals, the plants, and us. He created our bodies to use food and to use it well. But our modern way of growing and processing food—and the way big organizations have convinced us that non-food items are “food”—has led to an over-fed but under-nourished society.
Even if you believe you’re eating a healthy diet (and most Americans aren’t), it’s very possible that you’re not getting what you need to be well-nourished.
So today, I want to talk about how nourishing your body well—through supplements—might be a good addition to your daily rhythm.
In general, I don’t recommend starting supplements willy-nilly without some guidance. You can’t truly know what you need without help analyzing your diet, lifestyle, and situation.
But since we know that the quality of most food today isn’t what it used to be—and that it’s difficult to get enough nutrients through food alone—it’s safe to assume that most of us could benefit from some key supplements.
A few important notes:
You cannot out-supplement an overwhelmed, overstressed nervous system.
You cannot out-supplement a poor diet.
These two truths are foundational to my one-on-one program. If your nervous system is in constant overdrive or your diet is full of “foods” that aren’t really food, your body will never be able to reach true wellness.
Keep these in mind as you decide what changes to make.
No surprise here—your primary nutrition should come from real, whole foods.
That’s always going to be the best source. God made your body to use nutrients from food, not from pills.
The process of digestion begins the moment you start chewing. Saliva and movement begin breaking down food, preparing it for absorption in the stomach and intestines. When you eat food at its peak ripeness, you give your body the best chance to get the full complement of nutrients God intended.
The same goes for meat. When animals are raised the way God designed—in healthy environments and on natural diets—you receive the nourishment that was meant to come from that meat.
Unfortunately, most of what we eat doesn’t meet those criteria. Even homegrown produce can be limited by soil that’s been depleted over time. Studies suggest that today’s food contains far fewer nutrients than it did 50 or 100 years ago.
That’s where supplements come in.
Your individual needs will vary based on your health, diet, and lifestyle. That’s why I work side-by-side with clients to analyze labs and create a personalized roadmap.
But there are a few supplements that are generally safe and beneficial for most women.
This one seems obvious, but not all multivitamins are equal.
Look for one made from whole-food sources—your body will always know what to do with real food better than anything made in a lab. When reading a label, choose products with ingredients you can actually recognize and pronounce.
My favorite is MyKind Organics by Garden of Life. I love the gummy form—first, because they’re delicious, and second, because the ingredients are all real foods.
Here’s just a portion of what’s listed on the label: organic apple, peach, cranberry, purple carrot juice, orange, spinach, tomato, broccoli, beet, kale, ginger, blueberry, garlic (though you’ll never taste it!), and more.
If you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, use their prenatal formula. If you’re over 40, choose the “Women 40+” version.
Pro tip:
Don’t take all four gummies at once—split them between meals.
Take them with a source of fat for better absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K).
Even though your multivitamin likely includes Vitamin D, most women need more.
Roughly half (or more) of women are deficient—especially during winter. Vitamin D is essential for immune health, fertility, bone strength, mood, and overall vitality. Low levels are linked to “winter blues” or seasonal depression.
There are two forms: D₂ (from food) and D₃ (made by your skin from sunlight). You need both.
Look for a high-quality supplement and always take it with a meal containing healthy fats for better absorption.
I’ve linked my preferred Vitamin D in my Fullscript Wellness Pack (you can find it at bit.ly/MorrisWellness).
Before you say “yuck,” hear me out! Cod liver oil provides omega-3 fatty acids and additional vitamin D.
Most people get too many omega-6 fats (from seed oils and processed foods) and not enough omega-3s. This imbalance contributes to inflammation. Cod liver oil helps restore that balance and supports brain, heart, and eye health.
I recommend Nordic Naturals Lemon Flavor. I promise—it’s not bad! It reminds me of my grandmother’s lemon cake batter. Just one teaspoon a day provides huge benefits.
Yes—beef organs! They’re called nature’s multivitamin for a reason.
They’re rich in vitamin A, B-vitamins, folate, iron, zinc, copper, selenium, CoQ10, and more. Most of us don’t eat organs anymore, but by freeze-drying them into capsules, you get all the benefits without the taste or texture.
You can even make your own capsules (I shared a video about that a while back), or you can buy a high-quality version through my Fullscript Wellness Pack.
Someone asked me recently about prebiotics vs. probiotics, so let’s clarify.
Probiotics are the good bacteria that live in your gut and vaginal tissue.
Prebiotics are the foods that feed those good bacteria.
Think of probiotics as seeds and prebiotics as fertilizer.
You can get probiotics from fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, kimchi, or sauerkraut—but choose unsweetened versions. Sugar feeds the bad bacteria, which defeats the purpose!
Because most people don’t get enough fermented foods, probiotic supplements can be a great addition.
For prebiotics, add foods like onions, garlic, and other fiber-rich vegetables. You can find both probiotic and prebiotic supplements linked in my Fullscript account.
Please don’t buy your supplements from Amazon.
Even when they list the same brand, products can be old, stored improperly, or mixed from different batches. I learned this the hard way—after switching to Fullscript, the difference in quality was obvious.
Fullscript supplements are verified, tested, and discounted daily. Shipping is free over $50. You can browse all my curated wellness packs at bit.ly/MorrisWellness
